¿Qué es el NIF?
El NIF es el Número de Identificación Fiscal de Portugal.
Es un número único de 9 dígitos que identifica a una persona (portuguesa o extranjera) ante la Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira (Hacienda portuguesa).
¿Para qué sirve el NIF?
El NIF es imprescindible para casi cualquier trámite en Portugal, entre los más comunes:
- Abrir una cuenta bancaria.
- Firmar contratos de alquiler.
- Comprar una vivienda o un coche.
- Trabajar o emitir facturas.
- Pagar o declarar impuestos.
- Darse de alta en servicios (luz, agua, internet).
Sin NIF, la mayoría de estos trámites no se pueden hacer.
¿Cómo se obtiene el NIF?
Quién puede pedirlo:
Personas extranjeras con o sin residencia en Portugal y lo puedes pedir en cualquier momento
Documentos necesarios
Según la información oficial:
- Pasaporte válido.
- Documento con tu dirección (sea en Portugal o en tu país).
- Si usas pasaporte de un país que no pertenece a la Union Europea cualquiera de las 3 opciones:
- visado o sello de entrada en Portugal
- visado Schengen
- Representante fiscal → solo si no resides en Portugal
